Tools and materials: Prepare the required tools, such as traveling crane, hand hoist, jack, gauge, dry ice (or other cooling medium), protective gloves, protective glasses and so on. The materials are mainly eccentric copper sleeve, to ensure that their quality meets the requirements and the size is accurate.
Cleaning work: Thoroughly clean the eccentric shaft of the cone crusher and the seat hole where the copper sleeve is installed. Remove oil, impurities and metal shavings, etc. to ensure good contact when the copper sleeve is installed.
Checking the fitting dimensions: accurately measure the outer diameter of the eccentric shaft and the inner diameter of the seat hole to make sure that the dimensions of both meet the design requirements and there is a suitable amount of overrun. Generally speaking, when cold fitting copper sleeve, the amount of interference is usually within a certain range of technical standards, for example, the amount of interference may be between 0.08 - 0.12mm (the specific value depends on the type of equipment and manufacturer's requirements).
Selection of the cooling medium: Dry ice can usually be used to cool the sleeves. The very low temperature of dry ice (approx. - 78.5°C) allows for effective shrinkage of the copper sleeve. Place the dry ice in a suitable container, e.g. an insulated bucket.
Placement of the bushing for cooling: Carefully place the eccentric copper sleeve in the container with the dry ice, making sure that the sleeve is completely surrounded by the cooling medium. The cooling time depends on the size and thickness of the sleeve and is usually about 30 - 60 minutes to allow the sleeve to cool and shrink sufficiently. During the cooling process, it is important to observe the condition of the bushings to avoid overcooling and damage to the sleeves.
Adjustment position: Use traveling crane or hand hoist to lift the cooled copper sleeve and move it slowly to the top of the installation position. Use a tool such as a jack to adjust the position of the copper sleeve so that it is as centered as possible with the seat hole.
Quick installation: Quickly and accurately place the copper sleeve into the seat hole. As the sleeve cools and shrinks, it should fit easily into the seat hole. During placement, keep the sleeve upright and avoid skewing it. Once the sleeve begins to enter the seat hole, apply steady, consistent pressure to fully seat the sleeve. If there is any jamming during the installation process, the installation cannot be forced, stop the operation immediately and check the cause, it may be the case that the copper sleeve is not in the right position or there is a foreign object in the seating hole.
Checking the installation accuracy: after the installation of the copper sleeve is completed, use a gauge to check the installation position accuracy of the copper sleeve, including its concentricity with the eccentric shaft. The concentricity deviation is generally required to be within a small range, for example, not more than 0.05mm, to ensure the normal operation of the cone crusher.
Natural recovery and clearance check: Wait for the copper sleeve to recover to normal temperature, at this time, the copper sleeve will be closely matched with the seat hole and eccentric shaft due to thermal expansion. Check the clearance between the copper sleeve and the eccentric shaft, which should be in accordance with the technical requirements of the equipment, generally the clearance is about 0.3 - 0.5mm (depending on the model of the equipment) to ensure that the eccentric shaft can operate well in the copper sleeve.
